1Today
Until accounts open, OwnWeb holds very little personal data: the request logs of this website, and email addresses of people who asked to be told about a release. These are processed by our hosting provider only.
- Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany): hosting of this website.
- Cloudflare, Inc.: domain name service for ownweb.io.
2When accounts open
The providers below are the ones the service is built to use. This list is confirmed, with each provider’s location and the safeguards for transfers, before the first account is created.
- MongoDB Atlas: account records, order records and the metadata of synced data.
- Backblaze B2: encrypted synced files, snapshots and earlier versions. We cannot read this content, and neither can Backblaze.
- Stripe: card payments, wallet top-ups, tax calculation and developer payouts.
- An email delivery provider: sign-in codes, receipts and the notices you asked for.
AI providers you connect yourself are not our subprocessors: you choose them and your use is under their terms.
3Services the browser contacts directly
Some features fetch data from a third party straight from your device, which shows that party your IP address:
- Ad and tracker blocking, when you turn it on, downloads its filter lists from Ghostery.
- The search engine you choose receives your searches, as in any browser.
- Signing in with Google contacts Google.
